Throwing a pie in someone’s face is good. Throwing food at pi is better. Believe it or not, of all the countless ways to approximate the most prolific irrational number in the universe, there are none quite as interesting or as surprisingly satisfying as throwing perfectly good food around your kitchen. In fewer steps than it takes to circumscribe your house in a circle of baguettes, you, too, can easily add a slice of pi into your dinner menu tonight. The best part is…it really works!
Wow. Just wow.
I think I’ve blogged about this before. I can’t remember. Anyway, this Windows Live Writer business is actually a really kick-ass application. I use it along with Performancing for Firefox when I need a little more oomph than the extension provides (and when I need to upload images to my WordPress blog or use cool things like word wrap. Anyone have any fixes for PFF?)

…It means SCO is toast. Wells’ order threw out most of SCO’s evidence. They were too tricky by half (as Wells put it: “In the view of the court it is almost like SCO sought to hide its case until the ninth inning in hopes of gaining an unfair advantage despite being repeatedly told to put ‘all evidence . . . on the table’”), they got caught, and now they have been punished. And so, what they face at trial is awful to contemplate, if you are a friend of SCO’s. Which I’m not.
Ok, I still *hate* Sony, but I love Nissan, and I can’t slight the programmers and engineers of Gran Turismo just because they’re involved with Sony because that physics engine is damn amazing. This is a Nissan promo video made with the GTHD engine. Looks awesome.
I got a call from a woman who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information when she interrupted me with “I’m not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts. “Without trying to make her look like the stupid one, I calmly explained, “Capecod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa.” Her response… click.
Hey all, just wanted to let you know that the image header I have on my blog is (cropped) from Mandolux, who has the *coolest* widescreen wallpapers (from his own photography, as I recall). Here are some links to his stuff:
Here’s a link that should supercede my last post about accelerated ATI 3D in Ubuntu Edgy…
(though the package install note still applies: apt-get install x11proto-xf86dri-dev)
Ubuntu Edgy Installation Guide
If anyone has any notes on why the above package fixed my direct rendering issue, please let me know. Thanks!
SO MUCH to do, so little time. Between a hectic work schedule and a thriving social life, Yves (not his real name), a 31- year-old software developer from Seattle, often doesn’t have time for a full night’s sleep. So he swallows something to make sure he doesn’t need one. “If I take a dose just before I go to bed, I can wake up after 4 or 5 hours and feel refreshed,” he says. “The alarm goes off and I’m like, let’s go!”
Yves is talking about modafinil, a stimulant that since its launch seven years ago has acquired a near-mythical reputation for wiring you awake without the jitters, euphoria and eventual crash that come after caffeine or amphetamines. Yves has been popping modafinil on and off for the past three years and says it is “tremendously useful”. “I find I can be very productive at work,” he says. “I’m more organized and more motivated. And it means I can go out partying on a Friday night and still go skiing early on Saturday morning.”
ORLANDO, Fla. —
A crowd of as many as 600 people who rushed the front doors of a Central Florida mall to get one of 16 available Playstation 3 game consoles became so unruly that the group who received the devices had to be escorted out of the area by officers, according to Local 6 News.Hundreds of Central Floridians were told Thursday that they could not camp out at the popular Mall at Millenia for the PlayStation 3. So, when mall doors opened Friday, there was a mad rush of hundreds. “At one point, police had to call for backup,” Local 6’s Jessica Sanchez said. “The problem was the Mall at Millenia did not allow people to camp out overnight. That is why there was such a rush for the doors this morning. That Mall at Millenia was not expecting this.”
